Student Produced Television Program: News Crew
Providing our students opportunities to wonder and express themselves is one of the most empowering events any school can give. With this mindset, at Casita Center, 4th grade students are given the environment to create a school television program, News Crew. Through this program, students are challenged to apply their reading, speaking, writing, and listening skills (the Common Core Standards for English and Language Arts) through real life scenarios and achieve a vision of connectedness amongst our community.
Like many school-based broadcast programs, the Casita Center's News Crew has adopted new technology and incorporates the iPad into its new broadcast model. This year we will continue to expand our News program by including both 4th and 5th graders. News BroadcastFourth graders will continue to be responsible for streaming a daily news show that will keep our school informed of daily announcements, activities, weather, and birthdays. Teams of students will be selected every four to six weeks and will report to the News Crew Studio with Mrs. Anderson or Mrs. Cerelli. Both fourth and fifth graders will also report to class during the school day (team time) to learn more about writing news stories.
